Cleo Anastasia Johnson is an innovative and dynamic entrepreneur with over ten years of experience in hospitality management, strategy, and marketing.

Her passion for hospitality marketing and management led to the birth of her award-winning consulting agency, Nuecleo – an agency created with the sole purpose of improving brand reputation, increasing sales revenue, and driving innovative solutions in the hospitality industry.

Before establishing her consulting agency, Cleo worked for renowned hospitality companies known globally for exceptional services and world-class experiences. It was during her time at Mariott International, Radisson Hotel Group, and One & Only that she gained invaluable insights into the nuances of hospitality management, paving the way for her to establish her consulting agency dedicated to helping businesses elevate their standards and exceed customer expectations in the ever-evolving world of hospitality.

Her extensive hands-on experience working in various roles within the hospitality sector, including hotel management, sales, and marketing led to even greater opportunities where she was appointed as a consultant for a commercial task force for Hotel 2 Fevrier, Lome – one of Togo’s 5-star hotels where business meets leisure and successfully ran an international influencer campaign during her time there.

Through her tenacity and hard work, Cleo has been awarded and celebrated as a 10-x award winner holding titles such as 2023

PAYLEF: 100 Most Influential Young Leaders in Africa, 2021 Forbes 30 under 30, 2020 M&G Top 200 Young South Africans to name a few. She has a proven track record of developing and implementing successful marketing strategies for hotels, restaurants, and destinations. Most recently, through her consulting agency,

Nuecleo, Cleo has been managing Johari Rotana, a 5-star business hotel located in the Central Business District of Dar es Salaam, providing guests with unforgettable luxury stays. Cleo has built a diverse team of marketing experts, designers, and strategists who share her passion for delivering exceptional results. She continuously innovates by integrating emerging technologies and trends into Nuecleo’s service offerings, ensuring clients stay ahead of the curve.

In addition to her impressive entrepreneurial journey, Cleo was recently awarded an honorary doctorate in business administration from Prowess University in Delaware, USA in collaboration with Africa’s Under 40 CEO awards and in May 2024 appointed as chairperson of the BRICS Women in Business Alliance, a Tourism working group.

If she isn’t bringing about positive change in the hospitality industry, Cleo is busy with philanthropy projects – a deep sense of purpose and passion. She contributes 10% of her business income to assist with poverty alleviation, gender- based violence, and youth sports in various underprivileged communities in South Africa, she summited Kilimanjaro in 2018 with Trek for Mandela in aid of Caring 4 Girls (an initiative which aims to keep a girl child in school by providing sanitary pads) and she volunteers weekly in Kya Sands for her church, CRC Cares initiative which feeds 300+ school kids every Wednesday. Today, Cleo continues to raise the bar in business, through mentorship and speaking engagements by gracing stages and platforms such as NextGen Africa -Hospitality, Nigeria, Built for Biz Botswana, Alpha Series by Xena, and most recently the 2024 Hostex where she delved into the future of hospitality.
